The new channels actually do show up during setup, but the channel matching with Guide data doesn't show any of the new channels (100-200), and you can't re-use an existing channel (in KC market they are still broadcasting both ATSC1.0 on 0-100 and ATSC3.0 on 100-200). They recently rolled out ATSC 3.0 in KC last week, and I was eager to test in Plex. It does receive all the ATSC 1.0 channels perfectly. Hopefully this will speed up implementation and get more eyes on the ATSC 3.0 and AC-4 standards.I have the HDHR5-4K (Connect 4K), which is the early adopter/beta of the Flex 4K.
I am aware that Plex will ultimately have to wait for this to be implemented into FFmpeg before moving forward, but it will still be hugely beneficial to get the ball rolling now.
I have seen a few posts on the Plex and SiliconDust forums about this already, so for anyone who is interested in having AC-4 Audio Support within Plex, I recommend upvoting any posts on the forums asking to have this implemented. Due to this, it is also not supported on Plex. This lack of audio support is two-fold, as from what I have read, AC-4 audio is currently not supported within FFmpeg.
Also, I know that ATSC 3.0 is still being tested in most markets and won't be broadly available for a while, but since hardware is starting to makes its way into consumers' hands, I think it makes sense to start the discussions.Ĭurrently, it seems that ATSC 3.0 video streams are working within Plex, since these streams utilize HEVC (H.265) however, ATSC 3.0 audio streams are not working within Plex, since they utilize AC-4, which is currently not a supported codec in Plex. If anyone with an ATSC 3.0 tuner has more information, please correct me if anything I'm saying is inaccurate and please share additional details. With ATSC 3.0 starting to gain traction, especially with the recent release of the HDHomeRun CONNECT 4K, I want to start spreading the word about the additional dev work that will need to be done to fully support this using Plex for Live TV streaming/DVR.Īt this point, I personally do not have an ATSC 3.0 tuner, so all the info I have is based on other forums I have been following.
